- Being a part of Kick for a Cure Soccer Tournament & Festival
by volunteering your time will not only give you the satisfaction of knowing you
are making a difference to the lives of children with
Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy but you will also have a wonderful time doing it!
- We are seeking volunteers to assist us in all aspects
of the Event including the following areas:
Pre-Event volunteers
will be responsible in assisting the Event Committee with tasks such as assembling
prizes and gifts for players, assembling player goody-bags, creating signage, stuffing
envelopes, and any other tasks that event staff need to accomplish during the final
stages of event preparation.
Time commitment: Variable, and based on volunteer availability.
Pre-event preparation will take place at various venues in San Diego and is most
needed during the two weeks prior to the event. Two to four hour shifts are available.
Food and beverage will be provided!

Please note: All days mentioned below are for the weekend of our event:
Event set-up volunteers will be responsible in assisting in transporting
equipment such as chairs and tables, setting up Information Booths, Team Check-In Booth, and other
event stations. Event set-up volunteers will also be responsible for hanging sponsor banners and
posting signs around the Event venue.
Time commitment: Friday 10am-4pm; Saturday 6am-9am; Sunday, 6am-9am.
Team Check-In volunteers will be responsible for checking in teams at
the Host Hotel. This will require verifying the age of each player by checking birth
certificates and/or picture identification cards, checking rosters and liability forms,
and checking names off the preauthorized list of teams and players. Goody-bag volunteers
will distribute goodie bags to all players and gift envelopes to Coaches. They will also be
responsible for distributing event t-shirts to all tournament participants.
Time commitment: Friday 5:30pm-7:30pm in
our Vendor Village.
* Training will be provided onsite by the Tournament Directors.
"Meet and Greet" volunteers will be responsible for welcoming
tournament participants and event guests, answering questions, directing individual and
groups to their appropriate destinations, and overseeing the general flow of the event.
Time commitment: Saturday and Sunday, 8am-6pm.
FunZone volunteers will be responsible for operating one of several
very simple carnival games in the FunZone. Such games include shooting balls through
hoops, soccer tic tac toe, monitoring inflatable games, etc. Skill-specific volunteers
are needed for face painting. FunZone volunteers will also be in charge of collecting
tickets and handling prizes. All materials and supplies will be provided.
Time commitment: Saturday and Sunday, 10am-4pm.
Information booth attendants will be responsible for providing
guests with information, storing lost and found items, and reuniting any children
who have been separated from their parents.
Time commitment: Saturday and Sunday, 8am-6pm.
Human Foosball Court volunteers will be responsible for running the
games, time-keeping, and ensuring players know the rules, etc. Volunteers will also
have the opportunity to participate in Foosball games throughout the day.
Time commitment: Saturday and Sunday, 10am-4pm.
Field Marshalls will be responsible for reporting and
recording scores, assisting referees, and answering questions regarding
tournament rules. Field Marshalls also serve as a liason to emergency help.
Training will be provided.
Time commitment: Saturday and Sunday, 8am-6pm
Award ceremony assistants will be responsible for helping Event
staff with the coordination of the Awards ceremony. This will involve ensuring
that all medals and trophies are on stage and helping the MC with delivering prizes
to players. Award Ceremony Assistants will help organize winning teams to ensure
that entry on and exit off stage is executed in a swift and efficient manner.
Time commitment: Sunday, 12pm-4pm
COKE STATION ATTENDANTS
Coke station volunteers will be responsible for handling cash at the Coke
Station located in the Food Court and also replenishing the supply of water
and sodas in the station.
FUNZONE ATTENDANTS
FunZone volunteers will be responsible for selling tickets for entry into the KidZone.
Time commitment: Saturday, 10am-4pm; Sunday, 10am-3pm
Event breakdown volunteers will be responsible for packing
up various equipment (such as chairs, tables, and canopies), carrying, lifting, and
taking down all banners and posters around the venue.
Time commitment: Sunday, 4pm-8pm
- A Volunteer Orientation will
be held a few days prior to the event. Registered
volunteers will be notified of the date and place of
the meeting.
- The Orientation will consist
of the distribution of volunteer t-shirts, name badges, and
a description and training of specific tasks to be accomplished
at the Event.
- All volunteers will be provided
with food, beverage, and other amenities during their shifts.
- We can provide community service hours for your school,
church/temple, or work.
